Here you go...the new 2010 MXS-R! Alex is currently in North Carolina where he is flying the new plane with the new engine and it is going good. The engine needs time to settle and probably gain some power but so far so good and numbers look cool, lets hope it improves or at least keeps as it is right now. More pictures on facebook

Definitely a disappointing run in the Top 12 including one 2 second penalty. "I made too many penalties in Barcelona, I could have done better without mistakes and maybe reached the Super 8. 2009 has been a bit frustrating for me since the hard work on the plane and on my focusing during this season wasn't reflected in my results"
For 2010, we are working on a new plane which will be a G2 MXS (generation 2) which should be more competitive, lighter and faster and hopefully bring us to the podium!!

Definitivamente una carrera decepcionante en los Top 12 con 2 penalizaciones. "He penalizado demasiado en Barcelona, podría haber ido mucho mejor, sin errores y tal vez alcanzado los Super 8. 2009 ha sido un poco frustrante para mí ya que el trabajo duro en el avión y sobre mi concentración durante esta temporada no se ha reflejado en los resultados " Para 2010, estamos trabajando en un nuevo avión, que será un MXS G2 (Generation 2) que debería ser más competitivos, más ligero y más rápido y esperomos que nos lleve al podio!

Estamos salvos, fuera de los wild cards! Los tiempos han sido bueno, mucha rabia por las penalizaciones. Todo parece listo para mañana. La clave es no penalizar!!!

Alex flew cleanly to take a fourth place in training with a 1:25:64. Alex's dedicated focus on race strategy seems to have given results, we'll see tomorrow!!

El circuito de Barcelona hoy en la primera session de entrenamiento, no parece tan complicado como sobre el papel. Es un circuito con muchos giros con lo cual parece que le va a ir bien a nuestro avión, pero para las lineas rectas entre las puertas hace falta más potencia y parece que nos va a costar!!!

Alex had a strong afternoon session, clearly responding well to the enormous pressure of flying in his home country where up to 1 million spectators are expected for Sunday’s race. The track is not as complicated as it seemed at first on paper. It’s quite okay for our plane as far as the turns are concerned. But we need more power for the straight lines between gates. We don’t have enough power. We’ll try to sort it out and we’ll see how it goes tomorrow.

A cinco días escasos para el desembarco el próximo lunes de los equipos del Red Bull Air Race en su base de operaciones del Aeropuerto de Sabadell, Alejandro visitó este miércoles la Facultad de Aeronáutica de la Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya, donde desveló algunos de los secretos de la competición a los ingenieros del mañana y su deseo de subirse al podio el próximo 4 de octubre en la carrera del Front Marítim de Barcelona.

Con ocasion de la ‘Noche en blanco’ en Madrid, el TeamMaclan celebró con GAS JEANS el 25º aniversario de la marca italiana, actualmente sponsor del equipo. Mucha gente y como siempre muchos fans de Alex acudieron al evento!

'Noche en Blanco' in Madrid. Team Maclean spent the long night at GAS JEANS shop and celebrated with them the 25º anniversary of the italian brand. Lots of people and as always many fans came to the event to meet Alex!!

7th place..It was a great race in Porto, easy track so the performance of the plane was crucial and of course staying focused was also crucial. We did a lot of work in both areas, the plane and Alex focusing and we were working fine. We were reaching all we needed and achieving our goals but unfortunately he over G’d. Apparently the times Alex was making were quite OK to be in the top 4 and Alex was aiming for that!

6º posición con 1:11:23 a solo 1:20 del mejor, el británico Paul! El circuito de Oporto es corto y muy rápido. A pesar de un entrenamiento poco esperanzador, a casi 6 segundos del mejor tiempo, Alejandro ha encontrado las claves para situarse entre los mejores en la ronda de calificación. Gracias a esto el equipo está muy motivado para la carrera de mañana...a cruzar los dedos!!!

6th place with 1:11:23, only 1:20 behind the best time of the Qualifying session, Britain's Paul! The track in Porto is short and very fast. Despite the not encouraging training, almost 6 seconds from the fastest time, Alejandro has found the key to reach the top in the qualifying round. As a result the team is very motivated for the race tomorrow ... fingers crossed!

Unfortunately, no training session today. Fog came up again. We hope we will have time tomorrow to do at least one flight in the track before the Qualifying. We took advantage to have some interviews. La Sexta came to visit us!!

Al final tampoco hoy pudimos entrenar, la niebla nos acompaño todo el día. Hemos aprovechado para hacer algunas entrevistas con los medios españoles que vinieron a visitarnos, La Sexta por supuesto entre ellos!!!
Cruzamos los dedos para que mañana el tiempo mejore y para que antes de la calificación podamos hacer por lo menos un entrenamiento en el circuito. !

1:15:50 11th place. It seems this is not Team Maclean's year, at least until now. Two more races, two more changes to catch up points and get better results. We feel really happy regarding the changes we did on the plane, the handling is much better and smoother however the results are not working out...we now have to really study how to improve times and results. Runs are clean and precise but not fast enough.

Estamos contentos con los cambios hechos en el avión. hemos conseguido un vuelo más limpio y firme aunque llos resultados no estan a la altura...

Alex posted a 1:14:24 putting him in the 10th position for tomorrow race day. He is safely in the top 10. He went for everything during the Q1 and took the risk but it didn't work out (pylonhit). So according to the strategy he flew conservatively on the Q2 and took it easier to be sure to be in the top 10. No 'headache' for the wild cards! Obviously he was not satisfied with his performance today 'I have to push up and catch points'

Alex hizo un 1:14:24 lo que lo pone en una 10º posición para mañana. El tiempo conseguido, aunque no demasiado bueno, lo salva de los wild cards y lo posiciona entre los top 10. La estrategia más arriesgada y agresiva del Q1 no ha ido bien (pylonhit) por lo tanto Alex prefirió no arriesgar en el Q2 y intentar clasificarse entre los top 10. Hay que mejorar, empujar más y no pegar a las pilonas!!

6th place for Alex after the 2º training day. He posted a 1:16:51, 5:38 seconds from the best time, not good enough! After working on the engine he was cautious on yesterday’s training day but more daring and aggressive today. Still struggling with the track! Alex and Eneko are working on how to get the best performance of the plane to the track so get better results for tomorrow (Q.day)

Alex consiguió un sexta posión en los entrenamientos aunque los tiempos no han sido demasiado bueno. Después de trabajar en el motor, Alex prefirió adoptar una técnica más prudente y conservadora para el primer día de entrenamiento (ayer) pero más agresiva y atrevida para el de hoy. El mejor tiempo conseguido ha sido un 1:16:51. Nos separan 5:38 segundos del mejor tiempo del día, demasiado. Luchando con el circuito y intentando averiguar como sacar el máximo rendimiento del avión en este circuito tan ajustado.

Alex did his first flying under the Chain Bridge on Training Day One...it went well. The track is tight and fast. The short distances between the gates require rapid decision-making. Check the video on Alex's facebook page.

La primera pasada debajo del puente de las cadenas ha ido bien. El circuito es bastante apretado y muy rapido. Hay que tomar decisiones muy rápidas porque las distancias entre las puertas son muy ajustadas. Mira el video en la pagina de facebook de Alex

Para esta carrera, el equipo técnico ha pesonalizado el timón de dirección añadiendo un detalle que hace referencia al espíritu quijotesco de algunos de sus miembros!

Take a look at the challenging track. As usual in the Budapest race, the plan is to fly underneath the Chain Bridge, but this is dependent on water levels. If the water level allows starting underneath the bridge, timing starts at the bridge. Otherwise the race starts at gate 1.
La pista del circuito de Budapest estará desplegada entre el Puente de la Princesa Margarita y el Puente de las Cadenas. Si el nivel del agua del río lo permite, los pilotos tendrán un desafío añadido - volar por debajo del pintoresco Puente de las Cadenas, punto escogido como principio y final del recorrido.

No rest for Alejandro. He and the team are keeping very busy with media requests in Spain before the next race. Doing interviews for some of the most famous magazines and posing as a 'real male model' for some of them...Definitely Alex will have a future in the fashion industry!!!

La carrera de Windsor no ha ido demasiado bien como esperábamos. Los 4 segundos de penalización han dejado Alex en una décima posición. Decisivamente no es un buen resultado pero vamos a trabajar duro para poder conseguir mejores tiempos de cara a las carreras europeas!! Gracias a todos por vuestro apoyo!!!! Windsor was a disappointing race. Alex had a bad run in the Top 12, picking up 4-seconds penalties that left him back in 10th place. El británico Paul Bonhomme ha conseguido el podium en la 3º carrera de la temporada...Muy buen trabajo!!!

Alex posted a 1:12:07 putting him in the 9th position for tomorrow race day. He is safely in the top 10. Obviously he was not satisfied with his performance today but optimistic about tomorrow. He flew conservatively on the first run to avoid penalties points but made a mistake on the first quadro losing 1 second. The time he reaches is still reasonably competitive and he knows he has to fix some things tomorrow and so be able to do better time without anything in the penalty column.

Alex hizo un 1:12:07 lo que lo pone en una 9 ª posición para mañana. El tiempo conseguido, aunque no demasiado bueno, lo salva de los wild cards y lo posiciona entre los top 10. Obviamente no está satisfecho con su actuación de hoy, pero es optimista para mañana. Adoptó un estrategia conservadora en la primera calificación para evitar penalizaciones, pero cometió un error en el primer cuadro que le hizo perder 1 segundo. Tiene que arreglar algunas cosas para mañana y así poder hacer mejor tiempos y intentar no penalizar.

Foxy, tight and challenging track for Windsor race. Alex is pleased with his competitive times on the training day...But it’s not good enough for the race! He had a good day of practice and did good times according to the strategy planned with the Team's coach, Eneko. Alex believes he can be even faster in the track and push a little bit more. The plane was flying well, anyway we will try to get more performance/power for the race day.

Un circuito complicado, desafiante y astuto. Alex está contento con los competitivos tiempos alcanzados...buenos pero no suficientes! En general ha sido un día de entrenamiento decisivamente positivo gracias a la buena estrategia preparada con su entrenador Eneko. Para mañana hay que ir más rápido en la pista y empujar más. El avión estuvo dando buenas performances. Aún asi vamos a intentar conseguir más rendimiento para la calificación y al día de carrera.

El viernes 15 de mayo, Alejandro participó como invitado en una mesa redonda del Master en Psicología del Deporte de la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, UNED. Compartió la mesa con la campeona del mundo de Pádel, Ana Fernández, y el director de estos estudios, José María Buceta, quien fue hasta hace poco el psicólogo del Real Madrid y actualmente es seleccionador de baloncesto femenino de Bulgaria. Los estudiantes también tuvieron la oportunidad de formular varias interesantes preguntas a Alejandro.

Last Friday, the 15th, Alejandro participated as a guest in the conference organized by the University of Madrid (UNED), Master in Sport Psychology. He shared the table with world Paddle champion, Ana Fernández, and the director of these studies, José Maria Buceta, who was the Real Madrid psychologist and currently is women's basketball coach of Bulgaria. Students also had the opportunity to put several interesting questions to Alejandro.

Unfortunately, Alex couldn't reach the Top 8 and ended up in 10th place: Alex made regular time and because of the penalty (too high flight) he lost 2 seconds. Getting the plane ready for tomorrow to fly out to Windsor.

Desafortunadamente Alex no pudo entrar en los Top 8 y acabó la carrera en una décima posición. El tiempo conseguido fue regular y la penalización por vuelo alto le dejó fuera. Preparando el avión para el fly out de mañana para Windsor.

Alex started the 2nd round of qualifying with the fastest time in the first sector, but the meter indicated 12.1 Gs during a fraction of second. Following the rules of the competition of the Red Bull Air Race, Alex was disqualified from this round. For this reason tomorrow will have to struggle to enter the top 12.

Second training session in the afternoon worked good, Alex made 3 seconds less than the first training and no penalties. Less luck in the morning because of a technical issue. Still working hard to make better time tomorrow. However he ended up in 4th place!

La segunda sesión de entrenamiento ha ido bien. Mientras que en el primer entrenamiento del día Alex ha alcanzado una 8ª posición, por la tarde ha conseguido recortar 3 segundos, lo que le ha llevado hasta la 4º posición. Eso nos anima a ser más optimistas para mañana.

Alex made the 2nd fastest time in the Super 8 session, just 1 cent of a second behind Nicolas. Unfortunately he hit a pylon which lead him to a 8th place overall. It's obviously not good but the good thing is that we were really close and the plane proves to be very competitive, so SD is looking good for us.

Alex was totally comfortable with the plane. The MXS R has been performing great.
Alex’s position has gone down to 9th place on the 3rd training session but he has improved time. He adopted a more risky and challenging strategy and it let him do better time.
In spite of the penalties, we are optimistic about the training.

Alex had a good 1st day training, he ended up on the 3rd place at the first Training and 7th on the 2sd

Alejandro had a very good day in Perth and ended up at the 4th postition.

Alejandro ended up at the 8th place in the qualifying on Saturday in Perth.
So.... stay tunded for the race day!!!!

after the first training in perth a few pilots could get a flight with the australian airforce.
Alejandro was one of them, and as you can see, he liked it :-)

In the morning of the first training in Perth we had a nice visit from a australian family.....



and after that, the pilots where watching the flight of Hannes Arch

we arrived Perth 3 days ago and like you can see on the picture the planes are ready assembled in Jandakot.
Tomorrow we will fly into the TRW in Langley Park.

Alejandro had a good day, but because of a flying incorrect level he got 3 seconds time penatie and ended at the 8th Place.
But we had a perfect time here in Porto and now we look forward to the Perth race.

Today Alejandro ended up at 7th place.
So let´s see what he can make tomorrow.

Because of heavy rain and gusty wind we only had one training on Porto. After the first qualifying you can see Alejando studying the result and take a look again at the track to find out what he can make better in the second round!

weather was perfect, also a lot of spectators are at the location and a good atmosphere, but a 3 seconds penaltie brought Alejandro on the 7th Place.
So he is in the World Standing back on the 8th postition now.
Looking forward to Porto on the 7th of September.

But..... he will go on for a better position in Budapest.

After the second qualifying Alejandro ended up at the 8th position. So, for tomorrow´s race he is in the "super eight´s" !
