6 month doctor visit

On November 3 Ewan and Eileen had there six month check up.

Eileen weighs 14 pounds 2 ounces

Ewan weighs 13 pounds 11 ounces

They are both 65 cm in length with head circumference of 42 cm

They are exploring all sorts of new flavours and textures from pasta and pesto to elk barley stew. It is a lot of fun watching their reaction to new flavours.

They both received their third round of vaccinations yesterday.

After their bath today

And then true to form Eileen decided she wasn’t taking up enough space so she spread her arms out while poking Ewan in the eye

Yesterday after the vaccination Ewan just wanted to cuddle the stuffies, he loves soft material.

First taste of Banana

Tonight we put pieces of banana on Ewan and Eileen’s highchair trays. At first neither was interested in the banana, they were more interested in watching Kyle and I eat our dinner. After showing them the banana Ewan did pick it up and bring it to his mouth and lick it. I had to hold it to Eileen mouth, and then she licked it.

So, tonight they both had their first taste of Banana!

Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of Eileen because I was holding her and the banana! Sorry baby girl!!

The next morning (October 25) we tired bananas again. This time I got a picture of Eileen. They basically just suck on and lick their fingers after squishing the banana with their hands

6 Months!

Well 6 months have come and gone so fast I barely remember anything! It has truly been the most transformational 6 months of my life, everything has changed. Watching Eileen and Ewan grow, learn and live life has been unbelievably precious and special.

Our marriage has strengthened and grown as well, I am so lucky to have an amazing husband to co-parent with.

This month both Ewan and Eileen started grabbing their feet. Ewan has been sticking his tongue out a lot over the last few days. They both like playing with sensory toys and watching Baby Einstein DVD’s (so I have a moment to make dinner!). They like to be constantly entertained. I read them simple books and we have dance parties.

Sibling cuddles!

5 months and 1 week

It appears the babies are sick again, but this time Ewan knows how to breath out of his mouth. Eileen knew how to breath out of her mouth the last time they were sick in Jasper. It makes a huge difference when they don’t have to struggle to breath.

Hopefully I don’t jinx it again but the twins slept for 7 hours straight 3 nights in row. And last night Ewan slept in his box for the first time since June. It sure was nice having the extra rom in our bed!!

Fall is in full swing! We are still getting out as much as possible

Drumheller

On August long weekend (August 4-7) Kyle, the babies and I joined Auntie Diana and Jer out at Drumheller for the weekend. They have a plot of land in the Hoodoo campground with a trailer permanently situated on the land.

Diana and Jer cooked us wonderful meals all weekend. We played yard Yahtzee and Farkle.

This was my first time seeing the Alberta badlands. We took the babies for a walk around Hoodoo Provincial Park.

Luna is always watching out for the babies and likes to sleep in front of them.

We spent some time sitting in the Red Deer River to cool off, during which time, Mika caught a fish right out of the river and ate it.

5 Months

Today the babies are 5 months old! Time is going so fast. The weather has changed into the cooler fall days, which is nice. We are still able to walk during the day, we are taking advantage of this weather before freezing temperatures come.

Lately when we pick Eileen up she wraps her arm around your shoulder and it feels like the sweetest little hug!

Of course, after I blogged about how well they have been sleeping at night, this week has been terrible, Eileen has needed to be rocked to sleep and Ewan has been crying for 40 minutes before calming down enough to give into the sleep. It is still so much easier than the hours of crying Ewan used to go through before bed. Ewan doesn’t seem to suffer from gas pains anymore, and he smiles more than he cries now!

Ewan has this beautiful smile, he smiles with his mouth, cheeks and eyes

We are having a little difficulty getting new albums to display in our photo album but we can share those albums in blog posts so here are the long overdue images from the newborn photo shoot.

Aunt Peggy visits

My Aunt Peggy and my mom came for an extended lay over to meet/visit the babes.

It was so lovely to see my Aunt Peggy, she lives in California so we don’t see each other often!!

The babes were great, Wednesday was the first day they went exactly 3 hours between each feeding. I think it was because my mom and Aunt Peggy were so engaged with them all day.

I also went for a run on Wednesday, it was weird walking out of the house without babies or dogs!! It was my first run of 2017 and post pregnancy.

They have been spending a lot of time looking at each other
